Hermits

That is what Jason has called us this week. Tanner hasn't been feeling all that well so we haven't done much of anything. I think all of us have started to get cabin fever, we've been stuck in the house without any socialization. I thought that maybe I would take the kids to a mom's club activity today but Tanner is coughing and his nose is running so maybe we'll just stay put for one more day! (I think that is all I can handle without going crazy too!)

As for the blank post, yesterday I was reading to Tanner and Kylie disappeared. I called her of course and she didn't answer...she never does so I wasn't surprised. I went looking for her and looked in both Tanner and her room...not there. So I checked the bathroom her new favorite thing to do is wash her hands, and then will get her hair all wet as well as the cabinets and the counter etc...Well she wasn't there either, so of course I check the study and there she was playing on the computer. She had managed to compose 6 empty posts. I deleted all of them but one so she could have her own little posting for the day. She is so funny such a determined and stubborn girl. I don't know where the stubborness comes from it's not like Jason or I am stubborn at all!! She loves to sing and loves Little Mermaid and all the other Disney Princesses. Every night before bed we have to sing a mermaid song, either Kiss the Girl or the one Look at this stuff. She knows all the words and sings along with you. Last night she was playing before bed and brought this star out from her room, she was holding it above her head and singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I thought that was pretty cute the things kids come up with.

Tanner and I decided to build a spaceship yesterday. While Kylie was sleeping we put together the cranium fort he got last Christmas. He loves putting things together and I might add taking them apart as well. We had fun but getting him to hold still for a picture is crazyhe'll want his picture taken but won't hold still he'll jump around and move his arms. Then he says that he doesn't want any pictures taken and hides. Make up your mind!!

While Tanner was then destoying the spaceship, he wanted to build a castle, Paige was awake and laying on the floor. She was being so cute smiling and looking around. I got a picture of her smiling so I thought I would add it too. I know she is all wet, she spits up quite often kindof like Tanner did. I guess that it fits seeing how she looks more like Tanner than Kylie.

Week of Firsts....

We were able to go to Tucson this weekend to see my sister Lori play volleyball. Luckily we made it on time, I looked on the Utah State page to find the time the game started and forgot that we were an hour behind Utah. We left our house early enough that we walked in right as they were starting the game. I didn't think that she was going to be traveling this tournament and was so excited when I heard that she was coming. This is her first year playing at Utah State, and so we were even more excited when she got a little playing time! The kids had a lot of fun too for the first game and then Kylie totally lost it. We had hoped that she would have fallen asleep on the car ride down (I did) but she didn't and so she was so over tired that she didn't know what to do with herself. She cried for about 30 minutes I think. Jason ended up taking her to the top of the McKale center at the University of Arizona where no one was around (not that there was a huge crowd there anyway to watch two out of state teams play) and just let her cry until she finally fell asleep. I sat down with the other two who both fell asleep as well. It was nice while it lasted, because then Kylie woke up and cried for another 15 minutes. Of course Lori got to play then so I didn't get to pay as much attention to her playing. I did manage to see her shoe come off while she in and they had to stop play for it go back on! But she played really well, did really well defensively and got to hit a little. She has a stress fracture in her leg and hasn't really been playing a lot of front row in practice so she did really well I am excited for her. We waited for her after the game and the kids were so excited to see her, and I was happy because we got to take her out to dinner! We went to Chili's and just relaxed and talked and spent a couple of hours visiting. I'm excited now because we will get to see her first home game in Logan on her birthday.

I can't believe that Paige is now a month old. She now weighs 10 lbs 2 ounces and is 21 3/4 inches long. She is such a good baby. She is sleeping well at night and is just so alert and smiles often. She loves to have baths, her umbilical cord took forever to fall off, and so I just have started giving her baths in the last week. She absolutely loves them and just sits and kicks the water hasn't cried yet. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant baby.

Speaking of firsts we were at church on Sunday and it was time to go home, but one of the girls in my young woman's class asked to hold her and as she did I noticed that Paige decided that it was time to have her first up the backer. Needless to say that was a mess! I wanted to have her picture taken before church because she looked so cute, but we didn't get that done, so I'll just have to dress her up and take a picture of her sometime this week. I need to do better with my photography I think I'm a bit rusty, or maybe I'll just blame it on the camera!

Today I accomplished something I have wanted to do now for a while. I got down on my hands and knees and washed the tile floor! This is terrible but I have been trying to talk myself into it for the last well I won't say for how long. But Paige was so good the whole time she just laid on the floor and looked at the animals on her play mat, and the other too were pretty content watching Scooby Doo. It felt so good to get that checked off my to do list!

One of those days.....

Well I thought I had been doing pretty good with the adjusting...but today was crazy. It started off just great, then headed downhill after changing 3 kids messy diapers a couple of times each, and then towards dinner time I thought I was going to go crazy. I must have eaten something yesterday that bothered the Paige because she just wanted to be held, but even holding her she was just crying. Kylie was super onery and wouldn't listen, and Tanner was just being a boy and being crazy and not listening. And of course this is right around dinner time and I'm trying to get dinner on the table. The kids were pounding their silverware and cups trying to be just as loud as the baby crying, and then Tanner started singing I Love to see the Temple. It kind of put things in perspective. Luckily Jason could stop working and came and rescued the baby and got her to quiet down, and saved me from a nervous breakdown! Whew, just hope tomorrow isn't the same way!!

It's hard to believe that Paige will be 1 month on Thursday. Time goes by so fast I was just noticing how much she is changing. She is filling out so much, and she is smiling now, and is so much more aware of what is going on. Tanner and Kylie love her so much, the problem is trying to keep them out of her face!

Back to Normal

We made it back from Utah on Sunday. We decided to make the trip in 2 days instead of 1. I'm glad that we did. We ended up going the Las Vegas way because we couldn't get a hotel in either Kanab, UT or Page, AZ. We had a good rest of our week in Utah. We spent a lot of time at Andrea's and let the kids play in the froggy pool in the front yard. They loved it. We saw Lori off to Utah State go Aggies! We helped Kim when she locked herself out of her house. That was pretty cute she called when I was driving back to mom's house and wanted to know if Tanner could crawl through the window. So we headed over to her apartment and we tried getting the screens off. We didn't have much luck we finally asker her neighbor to help us. He was able to get the screen off to her bedroom so we had Tanner crawl through the window and go around and open the front door. He unlocked the door and came out with a big smile on his face and said that was fun can I do it again?! Thursday I was able to visit with my friend Allison and her kids. It was fun to see them. They came over and the kids played and we were able to talk. Then we had a little picnic on the back patio. We also went and took dinner to Grandma and Grandpa Startup. The kids had fun playing with the toys there and we got to visit for a minute. Friday we took the kids swimming at the Scera Pool in Orem. It was family day for swim lessons so we went swimming. We had to leave at 12:00 so we went and got some pizzas and drinks and went to Amy's and had lunch. Then went back to the pool for a couple of hours. I think that the kids were pretty exhausted by then, because when I went to pick up Jason they both fell asleep. We had a picnic Wendy's dinner that night at Rock Canyon park and then visited Jason's sister Julie. She had a baby 2 days after Paige, and they named her Hailey. It was really good to see them. Saturday morning Kim, Amy and I went to the Layers Warehouse sale, we got some really good deals and we had a lot of fun too!

Now that I am home I actually have to do all the cleaning, cooking, and all that fun stuff I was a little overwhelmed! Having 3 kids is a little tougher than I thought! But I think once I get on a schedule things will be a lot easier. It's hard to believe that Paige is 3 weeks old! The kids love her and want to hold her all the time.
Her umbilical cord finally fell off, and yesterday she smiled at me about 5 times. Jason swears that she already smiled at him first, but I think she just had gas! I think that it's only fair that I get to claim the first smile. I took her out today we went to Becky Higgins to swim. It was the first time that a lot of my friends had the chance to see her. And the kids had a great time. Tanner jumped off the diving board for the first time. He loved it! Kylie had fun too, she was a little shy at first but then she was swimming and having a good time too. Then I got to go to Young Woman's! It was so much fun to see all the girls I hadn't seen them for about 3 weeks. I love being able to work with them it's so much fun! Well I better be off to bed before the baby wakes up!

Paige at 2 weeks

I survived one week without Jason hopefully this one will be a little easier! Paige has been sleeping so well it's nice to be able to put her down by 11:00 and then not get up again until 5:30 or 6:00 hopefully she will keep it up! Just knowing my luck she will start waking up every 3 hours.

We don't have a lot planned for this week, I am going to try and see my friends from high school one day, and then I don't know. Hopefully I will just keep the kids busy so they don't ruin my parents house and drive them crazy at the same time! I don't know if that is possible though with a 3 and a 2 year old but I'll try.

Today we went to swim lessons and watched Brevin swim, Emma was supposed to swim too but they had a different teacher and she wouldn't go in the water. Tanner thought it was pretty fun, although he also enjoyed the Hogi Yogi sign. And of course Kylie copies whatever Tanner does. After swim lessons we went over to Andrea's and let the kids play. It's pretty nice because the older kids take great care of my kids. So I just get to relax and be lazy! Taylor took the kids into his room and put a Scooby Doo movie on and they all laid there for a minute. I thought it was pretty cute so I had one of the kids take a picture. They had a really good time Tanner and Kylie love their cousins. Andrea also let Amy and I go to Target without the kids! It was fun and I think I enjoyed it too much I spent too much money.

Utah

Okay so we found out that Jason had to work in Wyoming a week earlier than expected so we packed up the kids and headed to Utah Saturday July 28th. My mom was supposed to stay until Monday night but she was able to change her flight and left Saturday morning. Jason drove her to the airport and then came home and packed up the car and we left at about 12:30. We made pretty good time it only took us an extra hour with all the stops. Paige was so good, she just slept the whole way. We stopped about every 3 hours so I could feed her, and then she went back to sleep and didn't make any noise. I can't say that about the other two, but it was a good car ride.

It's been fun to let the family see Paige. I've never had family see one of my kids so little. Tanner and Kylie are having so much fun with their cousins. It's good that they aren't just cooped up in the house. Sunday the family came over and we had dessert. On Monday Jason got ready and left for Rock Springs in the evening. Tuesday was kind of crazy I got the first taste of 3 kids by myself. It was a little scary but I think I somehow managed. At noon Andrea's kids came over, and then Amy and Emma, and Linzee came too. The kids were playing downstairs and Tanner pushed the door open and it hit Carter in the head. He ended up getting 9 stitches. It was crazy, luckily Amy was here and we watched all the kids. They were all pretty good. I was sad that he had to get stitches though.

Wednesday went a little smoother. We got up and dressed and I finished the newest Harry Potter book. I couldn't put it down! I stayed up waiting for Paige to wake up so I could feed her, but she didn't get up when I thought she would so I ended up reading until 12:00. I thought for sure she would wake up right after I fell asleep, but she ended up sleeping until 3:30. She went 7 hours, it was nice too bad I didn't go to bed earlier! The day was pretty normal, Kylie actually had a nap, and Tanner and I went and played with the puzzles. When Kylie woke up Dad came and helped out with the kids for a while, and then we headed over to Andrea's and let the cousins play. They had a good time!

Thursday was the Startup reunion. Ir was an all day thing and I really didn't want to go and take the baby out with so many people. So the kids and I stayed home and my aunt De came to visit. It was so much fun! I haven't seen her and visited with her for so long. The kids loved playing with Madi too! I loved it because I didn't have to keep them out of trouble! Mom ended up buying the kids and I tickets for dinner, so we went. It was nice to get out, I think that the kids had a great time. Kylie was really hungry and got pretty messy at dinner. But I think she really enjoyed the salad! We went over to Kiwanis Park and watched Kenzie my niece dance in the program that had been put together. The kids loved it, I haven't seen either one of them sit that still since we got here! Kylie was trying to dance and sing with the kids too, it was pretty cute. I think I will have to get her in some dance classes soon!

Friday was a laid back kind of day. We didn't do much of anything which is bad because Tanner and Kylie get bored and then they get into all sort of trouble, so by 3:00 I had it and decided to get out the slip and slide. They had so much fun! Tanner loved running and sliding, and Kylie loved just running through the water. It was great because they got out so much energy that at dinner Kylie fell asleep eating her food. I had hoped that she would sleep all night, but she woke up at about 7:30 and wouldn't go back to bed. Jason came back home, and all she wanted was him! It was so nice to have him back to help me out!

Saturday we took the kids to a movie. I wasn't going to go at first but decided Paige would sleep the whole time so we had a family outing. We went and saw Ratatoiulle. Tanner liked it but Kylie didn't think the movie was very fun. She ended up sleeping through most of it. Paige slept through the whole thing too, so it worked out perfectly. We didn't do much the rest of the day so it was relaxing. Jason helped fix dinner, it was really good. We had Mahi Mahi with a mango kiwi salsa on top, and then some stir fry zuchini from my parents garden. It tasted really good! After dinner I went with my parents to a wedding reception for one of my friends from school. It was good to see him and his family!

Today was kind of a bittersweet day. I didn't want the day to end because I knew Jason would be leaving for Wyoming for the next week which means that I get to deal with the kids all by myself. Hopefully I can do better this week than I did last week! The good part of the day was my little sister Lori came home from Europe. I am jealous because I have never been there and have always wanted to go she has been there twice now! This trip was part of her graduation present, and tomorrow she leaves to go up to USU for school and volleyball. It was fun having the whole family here and her showing us all the things that she got, and talking about her trip. I am glad that she had a good time. I had such a hard time getting the kids to bed tonight. Both had naps, and so they didn't want to fall asleep. Now I guess that all of them are asleep I should go too!
