Making Memories

We had a good trip to Utah although we were ready to come home! We were able to spend a lot of time with family going on picnics, shopping, spending time at cousins houses and the best part just being able to be with my sisters!

We had a very memorable trip home, Tanner and Kylie woke up with a fever Saturday morning. We decided that we needed to leave sooner so that we could have more time if needed making stops, plus it was supposed be bad weather in Southern Utah. Well it rained practically the whole way home. Some parts it was coming down pretty hard, we stopped in Panguitch to get something to eat, and Kylie ended up throwing up all over the floor at the Hogi Yogi. I was in the car feeding Paige so I didn't have to deal with it! I was so worried that she would throw up again in the car. That happened before on a trip to Utah in May, but luckily she was pretty good the rest of the way home. Paige was hungry so I fed her a bottle of formula. She took it and then fell asleep. Well about an hour and a half later it all came up! I felt so bad for her, it was all over her carseat and her. We pulled over and changed her, and then she fell asleep. We made it home with no more disasters and even though it was almost midnight, we let the kids pull out all their toys and play for a while. They were so excited to be home!

Shopping

Why is it that everytime I come to Utah all I end up doing is shop? Maybe it's because my favorite kids clothing store is less than 5 miles away? I don't know, there are so many places that I love to buy things at Baby Gap, Roberts,
Tai Pan, Down East, and countless others. This trip we've been to the mall too many times to even count. My dad told me today that I needed to find something else to do when we came to visit! Sad but I believe he is right and I am sure my husband would agree. Plus I'm sure my kids would love to do other things than go to stores where they aren't supposed to touch things.

Can I say I love Dillard's shoes sales?! I got four pairs of sandals for $40's! Plus I got Kylie a pair of Stride Rite sandals for $7.50! I was so excited to find deals like that. While we were at Dillards Tanner managed to almost put his tooth through his lip, and Kylie had a breakdown. I thought girls were supposed to like to shop, not Kylie she is the exception to the rule.

Paige's Blessing Day

Sunday was a very memorable day. We we so lucky to be able to bless Paige in Utah with so many family members from both sides of the family. Jason's brother Robb and his wife Celeste and their family, his cousin Mike and wife Rachel and son were there, and his two sisters Jennifer and Julie and their families were there. I had all 4 of my sisters and their families. I was able to have everything that we needed ready the night before so we were actually about 30 minutes early to church the reason that was so remarkable was that church started at 9:00. I felt a little silly saving all those seats in church, but it was for a great occasion. Jason gave Paige a beautiful blessing and I felt so lucky to have both sets of my grandparents there with us. I wouldn't know what it was like to not have them there, they have been such a big part of my life.

After Sacrament meeting we all headed back to my mom and dad's and had a brunch. I had gotten doughnuts (thanks Mike!) and cut up fruit, and made our families favorite breakfast treat sausage pinwheels. (it's just crescent rolls with Jimmy Dean sausage spread over the dough then roll them up and cut them, bake and enjoy!) It was some work but well worth it. I love having family aroung visiting and being together. It was fun seeing Tanner and his cousins playing in the dirt with cars in their church clothes! I think everyone that came had a good time. We were so grateful for all that traveled to be with us!

I wanted to make sure I got pictures of Paige with my grandparents, but I was having the hardest time getting everyone together. As I was taking pictures of the Startups I saw grandma Wilson go to the study quickly. I knew that she wasn't feeling well. She ended up going to the hospital via ambulance and turns out she needed a pacemaker. Everything has turned out okay but it was pretty scary! Needless to say I didn't get any pictures. But I am sure glad that they were able to be with us. I will post more pictures when I get them from my dad!

Dinosaurs

Tanner is really into dinosaurs lately. I've been promising him that we would go to the dinosaur museum so I thought that when Jason got here we should take the kids for a nice family outing. Saturday morning we loaded up the van and headed to Thanksgiving Point. We got there just as it opened and got to see the 10:30 3-D show. I was quite surprised, Tanner kept his glasses on the entire movie, and did fairly well. There were some points where he was frightened but he did great. Kylie doesn't like movie theatres too much and as soon as we walked in she was not a happy camper. But she did better than expected, and was only frightened a few times. She even kept her glasses on for half the time!

After the movie we walked around the museum. They really enjoyed looking at all the dinosaurs, and all the hands on displays. Tanner kept going from exhibit to exhibit saying cool. The museum had quite a few activities for the kids and I think the favorite was "digging" for dinosaur bones. They had paint brushes for the kids to brush the sand off the fossils.

After the museum we headed up to Bluffdale to Robb and Celeste's to visit and let Tanner and Kylie play with cousins. Tanner loves his cousins Nathan and Justin. And loves to play the video game with cars! We had a great day visiting and it was nice the kids played hard outside all day long. Kylie loved seeing the horses and the cow. Justin was watching Kylie and told me that she was very curious about the electric fence. I think she got pretty close to touching it a few times. What a fun day!

update...from Utah

Yes we are in Utah again Jason has to work in Wyoming so I decided that we should get some more family time in Utah with mom and dad. I figured since they now are empty nesters we might as well make them not feel so lonely! My inquisitive 2 year old seems to help them not be so bored. Today she wasn't too bad, she just fed Max (the dog) some cookies, and put dog food in the water (my dad's pet peeve), and played on my mom's desk, played with the stereo and sound system, and to top it all off got a hold of a black pen and colored all over the wall in the bedroom upstairs! I thought she was laying down watching Beauty and the Beast and falling asleep, guess I ought to pay more attention!

We drove here on Friday, we left Arizona at about 4:00, and arrived here at about 2:30 so not that bad of a drive. Tanner was great, he always is in the car. He just watched movies and took a nap, and then fell asleep for the night. Paige was pretty good too. She actually was awake for the first part of the drive just looking out the window. Once we got to Flagstaff we stopped and got dinner and I fed her. She was a little fussy but then fell asleep. She woke up just after we drove through Page, and I just gave her a bottle of formula. She drank about an ounce and then was out until we got to Provo. Kylie on the other hand has never liked to ride in the car. She gets tired of it pretty quickly. She did okay this trip until it was time for her to go to bed. She couldn't get comfortable and wanted out of her carseat. She would sleep for about 20 minutes then wake up and cry and then start the whole cycle over again. This went on from about Kanab all the way until we got to Provo. I can handle the Paige crying but there is something about the way she was crying that was driving me crazy! I was really happy when we got to my parents and could get her out of that car seat. Well once we got there she was wide awake and now we couldn't get her to go back to sleep! Oh well we didn't need to sleep anyway right?!

Speaking of sleeping I have found the kids asleep in the weirdest places this week! Kylie always falls asleep somewhere other than her bed, but last night I found her between the mattress and the wall on the floor. And I was feeding Paige and Tanner decided that the stair was pretty comfortable and fell asleep there.
Last week before we left Paige got a cold! I was so sad I've never had a baby that young get a cold. She has been pretty stuffy and one day had a pretty good fever. But she has been sleeping okay, until the last couple of days. She won't sleep during the day. Every time she is asleep I will lay her down and within 5 minutes she is awake again. Hopefully she will nap better once her cold is gone!

Today we got up and I made breakfast for my mom. We had blueberry muffins and scrambled eggs. I think she was pretty surprised that I fixed breakfast. I usually wait and have her fix it because it always seems to taste better. Then we got ready for the day. After that we got a surprise visit from Grandma and Grandpa Startup. It was fun to see them and visit with them for a minute. Mom has been canning fruit the past couple of days and today needed to do pears. So I helped her peel some pears. I need to learn how to do all that stuff becuase the kids love the fruit. Amy, Emma, and Linzee came over and the kids played for a while. It's fun to see the cousins get together. I think that they were playing house. I went downstairs and they had the table all set for dinner it was pretty cute. Then we went and watch Hunter and Brevin play in their soccer games. Tanner loves to play soccer, I practically had to pry him off the field. Once I found him in the goal, and had to pick him up and carry him off the field. He told me he couldn't leave because he was the goalie. I guess I ought to get him involved in something, he would have lots of fun! I'll post some pictures later I am going to bed!
