Kylie's 1st day of Dance

We enrolled Kylie in a dance class and her first time was last Saturday. She was 2 weeks late starting and a was a little nervous at first but in by the end did so well. She loves it and asks all week if it is time for dance again. It was so fun watching her participate I hope that she has a great time. And by the way we did buy her a pink leotard, so she wasn't the only one in a black one!

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

We had such a good time visiting with my parents. I loved that they took time to come and see us here in hot Arizona. Dad said that they need to make it in the winter...much better weather then! And we love to have visitors anytime!!

Sunday was fun the kids were so excited to see Grandma and Grandpa, Kylie peeked into the bedroom a few times before they got up and was dying to let Max out of his kennel. (I was lazy and didn't want to have to take him outside!) We had breakfast and then mom and I got making the baked beans for dinner. Then it was off to church....we had to sit in the hard seats the first time since the ward split. The kids were crazy in Sacrament meeting and once Kylie was playing with moms wedding ring and dropped it and we couldn't find it. She was really on one I have to keep her busy doing something to keep her quiet. Then we went home and had hamburgers and baked beans. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, and visiting, and then went for a walk with the kids. Mom also helped me start my dinners for my freezer meal exchange. We made chicken caccitorie. I would have been up forever if she didn't help me thanks mom!!

Monday started early when I was able to go on my morning run. It always feels so good to exercise. My cute dad helped Tanner fix his bike and had so many "helpers" I am amazed at how calm he stayed sometimes I don't have that much patience.

After that we headed to look for some shoes for Tanner....when we came back we all had a pair except for my mom and Jason who wasn't with us at the time, oh and Paige she didn't get any either. And we made a stop at Sonic for a slush we love sonic slush's!! Then we headed to the pool for some swimming. Even Jason was able to join us for a little bit before we got some gusty wind. We topped off the night with some sequence....Jason and I needed to avenge ourselves from a prior loss which I won't even mention how bad it was.

Today started off slow I was tired and all the kids slept in until at least 7:30. We got going and went to Lowe's I was trying to figure out a project. We had fun looking around the new store and then we headed to In-n-Out for lunch. After lunch we went to Dillard's for a "quick" look around the store. Well they are having a shoe clearance and it didn't end up being quick. My dad was so great and watched the kids while mom and I ran in. I know he hates shopping but I am so impressed with his being so patient with us. After our shopping I ended up with 3 new pairs of shoes as an early birthday present we headed home so they could pack up the care to head back to Utah. Tanner helped dad with the car and I was so scared he would have a hard time with them leaving. He has been looking forward to their visit for so long. But in the end it was Kylie she wanted to go home with them and was so sad. Hopefully it won't be long before we can visit!

Holmes visit

A week ago Sunday we walked in to church and ran into Kayla and her husband Robert. Kayla was one of Jason's friends from college and they were in the same ward in California before we got married. Her parents had moved into an area not to far from our house and they would have been in our ward if it hadn't split a couple months before. It was so crazy to walk in and see them standing there. We talked for a while and then decided that we needed to have them over...so they got our phone number and we had them over for dinner on Friday night. We had such a good time catching up and visiting. Kayla reminded me that the last time we had seen them was when Tanner was just a baby. It had been too long hope next time they are in town they will give us a call!

It is so hard to get all the kids looking at the camera: Kayla and Meredith, Kylie, Tanner, Paige and me, and Jason. Thanks Robert for taking the picture!

Paige has gotten so messy eating lately, and most of the time the food ends up on the floor and the walls. She is so picky....I gave them Toaster Strudel's one morning and she didn't eat it but sure had a good time getting it all in her hair and everywhere else. I decided that the best way to clean her was to stick her in the tub.

Stats

I took Paige to the doctor yesterday for her 1 year check up and she is doing great. She weighs 21 lbs 11 oz, and is 30 1/4 inches tall and her head is 18 1/2 in. (of course her head size is a Headrick gene!). I thought she was smaller than Kylie was at 1 but I was surprised that she actually weighs more, is taller and her head is bigger.
She didn't want to see the doctor and hugged her monkey and then tried to bury her face in it. She didn't like her shots either. I had to hold her arms down and she was so mad. She wasn't happy that I made her get her shots I got her dressed and she got a sucker and she was all smiles again. Here she is with 2 of her bandaids on she pulled the other 2 off as soon as we got to the car.

I finally got the girls curtains up in their room. I've had them for a year and just never got around to putting them up so finally I got the rods Jason helped me put them up......now if I just can get the rest of their stuff up one room will be finished!!

Just a normal day......

Got to love it when you step out of the room for 5 minutes and you come back to find your 1 year old eating my 3 year olds leftover breakfast on the floor. I guess she didn't get enough and had to come back for more!

In the summer we do a lot of things inside and when the backyard is shaded we play baseball, or the kids will ride their bikes on the patio, well today Tanner wanted to go out front and race the fire engines down the driveway. So he waited patiently until after dinner and we headed outside. Little did I know that we would all get so dirty! We raced firetrucks for a few minutes but then I had to keep Paige from falling so Tanner started playing with his bulldozer and with the rocks in our yard. And of course we had to stop for a popsicle....sometimes we stop more than once!!

Notice her hands they are so dirty and her knees were just as black from crawling around on the driveway.

Today I found out that Paige likes to suck on rocks...Looking really innocentTell her no and she just goes back for morePaige has started walking so its much easier to have her outside today was the first time she has used the walker and she sure loved it! She was not scared at all but scared numerous times. She started going down the driveway which has a slight decline and she was going as fast as her legs would move....I was afraid she was going to do a face plant but she didn't and any time I tried to help her she would yell and move my hand off. Luckily we didn't have any accidents! Kylie is my little helper she likes to do everything with me. She is my second mommy and likes to boss her brother and sister around. So instead of playing with Tanner and the bulldozer she was following me around chasing Paige. So when I tried to take her picture she started moving her shoulders around and being super silly. I asked her what she was doing and she said just smiling.

I finally was able to get the kids inside and they went straight into the bath....I had to change the water 3 times to get them clean but I think it was worth it they had a great time outside even though it was still really hot!

Girls Camp

I didn't do a very good job at taking pictures at Girls Camp but I had a good time. It was the first time I had been back to camp since I was in YW....and it was fun to be a leader this time. I forgot about all the pranks, late nights, and all the great times and I am so glad that I was able to be part of it.

I had a bad week leading up to it, first of all I was released from YW's and put with Jason as nursery leaders...not that it's a bad thing I just was having a bad attitude about going to camp not even being in YW anymore and leaving the kids and making others watch them while I was gone. Then my lovely children decided not to listen and I had it. But I am so glad that I was able to go I am so humbled to realize that my Heavenly Father always knows what I need to hear. The camp theme was Young Women's Training Center. Where the focus was on marriage and their future children. We had some amazing speakers about the importance of motherhood and although it was directed to the future mothers it affected me and made me remember that even though it is tough sometimes there is a reason why I am doing this and I wouldn't change it for a career any day!

I had the great opportunity to ride the bus with the girls, and I am not the best take charge person but I got the girls on the bus and we were on our way. It was beautiful at camp and there were deer that roamed freely right by our cabins. We heard later that deer, skunks, and even a bear had been frequent visitors...as well as the occasional rattle snake. Luckily I didn't have to witness anything but a couple deer, and a dead rattlesnake!

We had certification, and skit night, and we did singing trees where each ward prepares a song and we go into the forest and surround a tree and each ward takes a turn singing and shining their flashlights to the top of the trees. It was so beautiful, quiet and a great way to feel the spirit. We had "P" day activities put on by the YCL's and we got to play water softball, had to get the worms out of pudding, watermelon seed spitting contest, water volleyball, hit your leader in the face with a wet sponge (yes I got to participate in that one and I did get hit in the face with the sponge and got so wet! didn't think my first years could do it!), went on a hike more like a walk and got some nature lessons as well. And the girls got to go down the zip line, and learn archery. All in all a great time except for the capers our cabin got assigned the most out of anyone but I think it was good because the girls needed to learn how to work! I will be honest I wasn't the happiest about it because I had to do a lot of the work! Especially in the bathroom the last day we had girls that we deathly afraid of bug and we had lots of bugs in the bathroom, and other gross things that I won't mention.

I was so grateful for the opportunity to go, and all those that watched my kids while I was gone, and my husband for keeping the house clean! It was so nice to come home and be with my family!
