I thought we might have a nice quiet spring break this year (last year Tanner was miserable from an allergic reaction to his antibiotic) and we did for 1 day. We had some friends over to play and the kids were so excited. We took turns on the trampoline letting the little kids have a turn and the big kids have their turn. It was all going great until I heard Cameron cry. It wasn't the normal cry it was his really hurt cry. He kept saying Kylie pushed me off. I couldn't console him, I felt his arm and it didn't feel right. But I wanted another opinion so I waited for Jason to get off the phone after he inspected Cam's arm we both decided we better take him to the doctor. We went in and were told that we needed to go to the hospital to get an x-ray. Cameron got a splint on his arm and off we went to American Fork Hospital and got x-ray's. The technicians did a great job and were so good with Cameron. They had to get creative to get the shots that were needed and then they showed Cameron his pictures. I could see from the one picture that his arm was clearly broken. We just had to wait for the official read from the radiologist.
Cameron did such a great job we stopped at Sonic and grabbed a slush and headed home. We got the call and he officially broke his arm. We got the cast on Friday April 5th. He did so well with it for a while, and now likes to use it as his weapon. We went to get it off May 3rd, but he wasn't moving it and cried when the Dr. pushed on it, so it went back on for 2 more weeks. It comes off tomorrow, no more weapon for Cameron!
I was April 11th and I was preparing for our trip to Hawaii. Enjoying shopping with a friend for the afternoon it was so nice no kids and shopping with a good friend and then my phone rang. I don't usually answer numbers that I don't recognize but I did and it was Paige's teacher. She told me that Paige had gotten hurt/fell off the slide before school had even started. It took her a while to tell her teacher what was wrong, but wasn't moving her arm and it was swollen so I should come pick her up. Being a little selfish I tried to get Jason to go get her but he wouldn't answer his phone, so I went and picked her up from school. Being the good mom I am I looked at her arm at the spot that Cameron had hurt his arm and it wasn't swollen at all, so I told her she was fine gave her some Tylenol, and had her elevate her arm. Stuck on a movie and went back shopping. (Jason was home) Well I finished shopping and picked up the other kids and headed home. When I got back home I examined her arm more thoroughly and discovered that her wrist was really swollen. She wasn't moving it and I thought maybe I will just watch it and if she is still not moving it tomorrow take her in. We had to the nursery to look at plants for the yard, and then I headed to my monthly GNO, and enjoyed myself. To my surprise when I got home Paige was in my bed. She couldn't sleep and was in pain tossing and turning. I felt terrible and really should have done more. I took her in to the Dr office in the morning, and sure enough she had a buckle fracture of both bones. We had to wait for the swelling to go down and she got her cast on the following Wednesday. The thing that has been the hardest for her is missing gymnastics. She just got her cast off yesterday the 15th and is in heaven!
