We had a pretty normal week last week, we did some Father's Day shopping and Tanner and Kylie started swim lessons. They are doing well and I think it has especially helped with Tanner's confidence. I just wish I would have put Paige in too. (Although watching all the kids screaming and crying might have rubbed off on her, when we went swimming on Saturday she wasn't quite her fearless fishy self!)
Friday Jason and I went out on a date. It has been awhile since our last one and a much needed break. We went to the Mesa temple and then then headed to Cafe Rio for some dinner. Saturday we made our usual Sam's club run, and then headed to the pool for some swim time. It's amazing that we think the water is cold and the kids don't want to swim for long when our outside temps haven't been over the 100's. We are definitely being spoiled living here in Arizona. We will remedy that problem as this week we are getting a full dose of over 100's.
After swimming we had a little down time and then I started to get Kylie ready for her dance recital. She needed to have her hair curly and of course wear makeup. I had her hair all curled and then had to go and get something and told her don't touch anything till I get back. I I ran out of the room and when I got back I found a 3 1/2 year old proud of her new found skill.
She didn't like having me put makeup on the week before so I didn't think it would tempt her. I had a hard time getting it off with out making her forehead red, and since we only had Vaseline, we decided to just leave it and stop at Walgreen's on the way to the recital. Poor girl thought we were going to leave it that way and she was so worried. She went to her bathroom and tried to get it off but got her hair all wet. It was quite comical and I reassured her that in the car I would fix it and make it all better. We stopped at Walgreen's and got some lovely makeup remover wipes and she we so happy once again. I finished her makeup in the car and we got the recital right on time. I helped her finish getting ready and Jason saved us some seats right up front. It was perfect. We had hoped that her performance was at the beginning but we had to wait until after the intermission. Tanner was pretty good, and Paige did remarkable due to the fact it was almost 2 hours!
Kylie did such a great job, we are was so proud of her. I wondered if she would be nervous dancing in front of so many people but she did it and she was even smiling.
We love this girl! After Kylie danced Jason took Paige and went and got Kylie some flowers. He thought I was so weird to even suggest that we get her some flowers so we had a bet. He thought that we would be the only ones getting flowers. Little did he know guess his sisters never took dance and he's never been to a dance recital. I am just happy because he now can take me on another date! We made it to the end and after we went with our friends to In-N-Out for some dinner. We were all starving and it hit the spot.
Father's Day started early as we have church at 8:30 and 3 really tired kids (and parents). We had to wake up 2 of the 3 and it wasn't very fun. But Jason didn't request a fancy breakfast so we had our Sunday usual of cereal. And the kids were so excited about him opening presents that we had him open 1 before church. Then it was off church. It was my last day in the nursery as I was released last week. It's bittersweet, I love being with Paige and all those cute little kids but I am happy now no more wiping noses and having to sit on the floor and all that goes along with that.
We got home from church and made chicken fajitas and Jason made a coconut cream pie, and I made an apple. He opened the rest of his presents...he got clothes and more clothes and then a pair of sunglasses. I think he did pretty well! We had a nice relaxing day and we are super grateful for our dad and husband. He sacrifices so much for us and I am so happy that he is such a great Dad! Love you, you're the best!!
